Fitness after 50

Which is more important for seniors, aerobic exercise, or strength training? They're both important. Aerobic exercise increases cardiovascular, heart, and lung health can result in a longer, more active life. Strength training offers stronger bones and muscles, an increased range of activities, and improved mobility for seniors. Much of the disability, loss of function and loss of independence we see in the elderly is directly related to both low muscle and low aerobic fitness. New research shows strength training builds muscle mass and improves functions, even in the very elderly and disabled. So get going, it's never too late to get up and get moving and truly enjoy the golden years.
