Loneliness and Heart Disease

Research that was recently published in the journal, Heart, found that loneliness increases the risk of heart disease and stroke. The study used data from 23 diverse studies and included information from 181,006 men and women 18 and older. Scientists found that the risk of death from heart disease, angina or heart attack is increased by 29 percent when individuals report suffering from loneliness or social isolation. The risk of stroke is also increased by 32 percent. More reason to spend time with your loved ones!
