Weight Loss Help -- Try Water!

A new study, published in the journal Obesity, found that drinking 16 ounces of water a half an hour before eating meals assists in weight loss. For the study, researchers placed 84 obese adults and randomly divided them into two groups. The members of one group was directed to drink 16 ounces of tap water before each meal every day for 12 weeks. The other group was asked to imagine their stomach was full before each meal. All participants received weight management advice on how to improving their diets and activity levels and a follow-up telephone consultation 2 weeks later. The result? Participants who drank water before meals lost an average of 9.5 pounds over the 12-week period, compared to 1.76 pounds for the group who did not 'preload' with water! Researchers are not sure if drinking water triggers a short-term rise of your metabolic rate or if it makes you feel fuller... but you don't get an easier weight-loss tip than this!
