Sharing Nutrition Knowledge with Your Kids

As parents, we all worry about our children's nutrition. We can't be with them all the time, so how can we help them appreciate healthy nutrition and make smart eating choices? The first thing we can do is teach our children to read food labels and the government is trying to help. The Food and Drug Administration teamed up with cartoon network to launch a public education campaign that encourages children to read nutrition facts on food labels. Get them involved by finding reasons to avoid foods high in fat, cholesterol, sodium and sugar and eat more foods with potassium, fiber, iron and calcium. Encourage them to find out facts about food on their own and share them with you. Not only is this be a good way to teach children about proper nutrition, but parents could benefit as well.
