Onions Fight Osteoporosis

Can eating onions help prevent osteoporosis? Research seems to point in that direction. Scientists fed large amounts of dried onions to lab animals and found it increased their bone density. Osteoporosis causes brittle bones and is a major health concern for women. For years, doctors have recommended calcium from dairy products be used as a natural supplement for estrogen, the female hormone linked to healthy bones. But dairy products have only a small impact on the disease. New research concludes that one gram of onion a day can help keep you free of osteoporosis! Cutting up the vegetable may bring you to tears, but it could prevent a lot of misery in your later years!
