Seeing is believing. From the patients of these diseases, to the families and friends that support them, to the doctors that diagnose them and the world wide-organizations that desperately try to help find the cure; Peter Nielsen is an inspiration to all. Take a close look, you would never know that Peter nearly died twice from Crohn's Disease.
He was diagnosed at the age of 15. Try to imagine a 15 year old boy and what he would look like if he only weighed 86 pounds. In spite of his body's inability to absorb nutrients properly, Peter was determined to not only gain weight, but to add muscle mass as well. He studied his disease and the effects that it had on his body, he learned about nutrition and supplements as well as how to exercise properly.
28 years later, he has earned such titles as: Teenage America, American Grand Prix, Mr. International Universe, World Natural Bodybuilding Federation Title, European Grand Prix Champion, Trainer of the year and the list goes on and on for a total of more than 50 body building titles!
He is a host to NBC's number one affiliate station, WDIV channel 4 and their affiliate stations, "Peter's Principles" is aired multiple times a week and Peter now has a half-hour special airing once a month on the same stations.
How does this help you? Peter is so passionate about helping other people and giving them inspiration, we have dedicated a 1/2-hour television special to I-B-D, Crohn's and Colitis. This special originally aired July 24th, 2004 at 7pm on NBC affiliate WDIV in Detroit and can now be purchased in DVD formats in the online store. Peter educates people and helps them understand the diseases which no one feels comfortable discussing. In keeping with his passion Peter is happy to answer some commonly asked questions, give you a few do's and don'ts, direct you toward other websites that can help answer more questions, provide information for nutritional counseling and the importance of proper supplements.
Peter is frequently asked about pharmaceutical drugs that are commonly prescribed and new drugs that are coming on the market, as well as what doctors and hospitals he uses or recommends. Since every circumstance is different, we will try to continually add more information to link you to the proper places to get the answers that you need. As always, please feel free to email Peter directly for any questions or comments that we may have overlooked. We look forward to seeing you at our upcoming appearances for IBD/Crohn's and Colitis!
