Weight Training

Until a few years ago many health experts and doctors thought aerobics were the only kind of exercise necessary for the heart and lungs while weight training was thought to be best suited for body builders and athletes. In recent years that’s all changed. Weight training is now viewed as a top-notch way to improve bone density, strengthen the heart, lower blood pressure, and fight obesity. The average person and many cardiac patients should do one set of eight to fifteen reps of eight to ten exercises at least two days a week. It’s important to note that weight training should be done in tandem with -- not instead of-- other types of cardio exercises. The two together are a combination that will do your heart good.
