Are you thinking of expanding your family? Your baby’s brain develops throughout your entire pregnancy, which is why healthy pregnancy habits for all nine months are so important. You can actually boost baby brain function and development with by eating the right foods! Research relates that the following foods can positively affect your baby’s brain growth:
    Iron: Iron is necessary to help send oxygen to your baby’s brain during pregnancy. Spinach, lean chicken, and beans are all iron-rich foods.  Omega-3 fatty acids: Omega-3 is found in fish, flaxseed grain or flaxseed oil, and eggs produced by hens fed a diet rich in omega-3 fatty acids(look for the omega-3 label). Studies have consistently indicated that babies score higher on mental development tests when their mothers eat a diet consistently high in omega-3. Protein: Extra protein is necessary to help you body create baby brain cells. Add some extra daily protein with peanut butter on toast or a yogurt smoothie. Antioxidants: Antioxidants help protect your baby's brain tissue. It can be found in blueberries, papaya, spinach, artichokes, tomatoes, and red beans.
