Peter's Principles - Exercise

Just Kickin' It

Kickboxing is the rage. But beginners should take note. Kickboxing is an awesome form of exercise that can burn up to 800 calories an hour, compared to 400 calories for step aerobics.

However, this high kicking, fist-flailing regimen isn't for everyone. It requires flexibility, endurance and coordination. Beginners should limit workouts to no more than three times per week. In the very beginning, once a week should be enough. If overdone, it can also lead to injury.

I recommend wearing a pair of cross training shoes rather than running shoes, because cardio-kickboxing requires a lot of side-to-side and pivoting movements.

You'll get an intense calorie-burning workout if you don't overdo it.

The wrong food intake before a workout can also cause feelings of fatigue. Check with a doctor or nutritionist to see if too much gym time is the root of your problem!
