Senior Cross Training

One senior, age 67-years, asked me if on top of doing water aerobics 3-times a week, it would be okay to lift weights? You're never too old to reap the benefits of weight training. Recent studies show men averaging 69-years old and women averaging 68-years old gained strength and muscle after 2-months of weight training./p>

Three times a week the seniors would do knee extensions. The men gained 27-percent of muscle in their quadriceps while women showed an impressive 29 percent!/p>

So, grab a barbell and lift!

Finally, pay attention to warning signs. Dizziness, nausea, weakness, shortness of breath or chest pains are warnings to stop exercising and see a doctor.
