Edward from Berkley emails saying he's having a hard time quitting smoking, he's tried everything-do you have any suggestions?
Edward when you feel that craving coming up, get up and take a walk.

According to 14 new studies-low intensity exercise like walking, bicycling even stretching, may be enough to curb a craving to smoke. Exercise may also reduce irritability, poor concentration and other withdrawal symptoms from quitting smoking.

Researchers believe exercise curbs cravings because it reduces tension and increases the same mood enhancing brain chemicals that nicotine boosts. Studies also found exercise may be as effective if not better than oral nicotine replacement therapy. Nicotine gum can take about 10 minutes to kick in while a walk is immeditate.

You'll also be getting a great workout-which will help your whole body feel better!

Brian from Sylvan Lake emails, he heard tortilla chips could actually be good for you is this true?
The answer is yes! In fact blue is actually best when it comes to the most nutritional value.

A new study found blue corn tortillas have 20 percent more protein than white chips. The blue chips also have almost 10 percent less starch and a lower glycemic index. This is not only good for those who want to lose weight, but for people with diabetes.

Why is blue better? Researchers say the blue color of the tortillas comes from anthocyanins in the corn, which are the same healthy compounds found in berries and wine.

Matt from Waterford emails asking about the dangers of eating red meat. He's heard it's not good for him, but just how bad is it?
Matt, it's time to cut back or cut out red meat from your diet. It's just not good for you!

In fact studies show a high fat diet, especially with a lot of red meat increases a person's risk of developing colon cancer... and it's worse for those who are already battling the disease.

A new study followed more than one thousand colon cancer survivors. Researchers found those who ate red meat and fatty foods are more than three times more likely to suffer a recurrence or die from colon cancer.

Skip the red meat and load up on fish, and vegetables, which have been known to actually help fight cancer.

Rose from Ypsilanti emails she has 10 year old twins, one is overweight, one isn't. The boy who is overweight seems to miss a lot of school. Is this common?
Actually Rose, yes it is. A new study found obese elementary school children miss a couple more school days than their normal weight classmates.

School officials found the more days of school children miss, the greater their chances for negative outcomes such as drugs and crime. Researchers believe the children may be skipping class not because of medical issues, but to avoid teasing.

Our children are facing an obesity nightmare! Youth obesity rates have nearly quintupled among 6 to 11 year olds and tripled among teens and children ages 2 to 5. Lack of exercise and poor nutrition are to blame.
