Brooke from Novi just found out she's going to be a new mom. She emails asking how to stay fit until the stork makes the special delivery.
Brooke, more and more research shows that exercise is a safe and valuable aspect of pregnancy! Me latest recommendation is that healthy women get in thirty minutes of exercise most days of the week. Other new research shows that even strenuous workouts are ok for women who were in good shape before getting pregnant. But expectant women need to take extra precautions! Avoid activities with a high risk of falling. Scuba diving and hiking at over six thousand feet can be risky. Be sure not to exercise on your back it can cause blood pressure problems. Avoid running and jumping and be sure to replace burned calories fast! Talk to your doctor about the plan that's right for you!

Mike from Utica emails for tips on increasing his maximum running speed.
Mike, unfortunately there's no magic formula for increasing your speed and agility. But there are certain techniques that can be learned and mastered by serious runners.to maximize speed athletes need to run in a relaxed mode. Speed training should only be performed when your body has recovered from previous runs. That means a rest period at least four times the length of the run itself! Speed training needs to be organized into light, medium and heavyruns. Runners shouldn't exceed 400 meters per day. Additional distance can be included into other phases of the workout. Remember, speed endurance can only be developed by running longer distances or decreasing the rest between short intervals. Using these tips will. Help you in the ground running when maximizing speed and endurance!

Dan from Southgate emails that sometimes he drinks a little more than his doctor recommends. He wants to know about natural ways to protect his liver.
Dan, the best advice is to cut back on alcohol intake! But there is some new research you should find interesting. Researchers have found that curry prevents alcohol related liver diseases in lab animals. The benefit comes from a substance called curcumen (ker-q-men) it's the substance that gives curry its yellow color. It contains a natural anti inflammatory compound. Scientists now say it prevents alcohol related inflammation and tissue damage to the liver. Its the first research to show curry can make such a claim. Scientists say the find could mean new hope for folks at risk of an alcohol related liver disorder.

Mike from Lincoln Park emails for tips on building stronger more healthy bones!
Mike, if you're over fifty you should make getting more vitamin B-12 a daily priority! You can get it in supplements and some fortified cereals. Getting enough B-12 is important because folks have a tough time getting the right amount in their later years. Researchers examining bone density in a group of frail- elderly subjects found most were deficient in B-12. B-12 is also found in animal protein so proper meat intake is very important as we age. Its also presentin milk and other dairy products. The recommended B-12 intake for folks over fifty is two point four micrograms a day. That's the level found in most multi-vitamins!

Bill from Monroe emails for tips on getting the most out of his ab workout.
Bill, knowing when and how often is the key to getting the results you're after! Most folks who exercise work out major muscle groups three days a week.but the same group of people will literally churn out hundreds of sit ups and crunches a day to develop six pack abs. So, are the abs the exception to rules about over-training? The abs react to training just like the quads, lats or pecs, they're high endurance muscles and they can be worked more than most other muscle groups. But remember, working the abs too much can be counterr productive! So you can push your abs as long as you give them time to recover! Proper diet is crucial! Cutting weight around the mid section is as important as crunches for getting the look you're after! Be persistent. Just like rome. Legendary abs weren't builtin a day!
