Building Block of Muscle

If you’re starting a workout program, watch your protein intake. Foods with protein are so important. Every cell in your body is made up of protein. It's the building block to muscle.

When you work out with weights, you are utilizing protein. If you don't have an adequate daily supply of high protein and low fat, you are going to be taking 5 steps forward with that workout and 10 steps backwards.

That's right. Your body will start feeding on itself. Your muscles will be tearing down instead of building up. Here’s a word of caution. It is possible to have too much of a good thing. You don't want to eat too much protein. The human body can only utilize 30 to 40 grams of protein in a 2 and 1/2-hour time period. Anything more will be stored as fat. Find out how much protein you need by going to my Advanced Nutrition Clinic for guidelines.

Good sources of protein are egg white omelets, fish, turkey and chicken.
