Grapefruit Juice and Medications

Some medications may not interact well with fruit juice! A growing amount of evidence shows that grapefruit juice may interact negatively with several prescription drugs. Research seems to show that something in the juice alters key enzymes in the medication. It's important to note that orange juice doesn't have the same effect-even though they're both from the citrus family. But the effect of grapefruit juice can be profound.

Taking one tablet of cholesterol reducing Meclovar with grapefruit juice can be the same as taking 5 tablets with water! That's important food for thought during your next visit to the doctor's office.
