Diabetics and Carbohydrates

If you have diabetes, should you eliminate all sugar from your diet?

It would be practically impossible to eat a healthy diet without eating any sugar. Sugar can be found in all fruits and is found in milk in the form of lactose. It's not specifically sugar that has to be limited in those with diabetes; it's all carbohydrates-particularly complex carbohydrates that should be limited. They can be found in all starchy foods including and especially bread, pasta, potatoes and rice.

It should be okay to eat some sweet foods as long as you limit your total consumption of carbohydrates. The level varies with each person. Consult your doctor for healthy diet tips that are right for you!
