Canola Oil: The Real Deal

I'll tell you about an oil that's the real deal. Canola oil wins the competition in terms of being the lowest in fat.

Canola is a trademark name for the special oil developed by Canadian researchers for it's low saturated and polyunsaturated fats.

In addition, Canola contains a key Omega-3 fatty acid, which reduces cholesterol.

Refined Canola is Bad News
Omega-3s, one of Canola's benefits, is lost if the oil is heated, either during initial processing, or during cooking. The molecular structure of the Omega-3s is altered, changing the oil to its dangerous trans fat acid form, which is known to raise overall cholesterol. Bleaching and deodorizing in the refining of Canola also rob the oil of essential nutrients.

Eat it Cold and Unrefined
Canola oil is healthiest when eaten in its unrefined state. You'll derive maximum nutritional benefits by using it unheated, such as in dressings for salads, or chilled sauces.

In some ways your body is like a car; it needs the right oil to fire on all cylinders!
